We've been hearing all about how amazing Hades is for months and months now, but it's finally time for us to play the darn thing. Supergiant Games' latest launched on PC and Switch in September of last year, and it's gone on to receive countless awards for its compelling rogue-like gameplay and storytelling elements. The studio, thank the gods, has finally announced it's heading to PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 13th August.
We probably don't need to tell you all that much about this game, but here it is in a nutshell if you're not aware. The game is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you play Zagreus, the son of Hades. Your quest is to escape the realm of the dead, but randomly generated maps and numerous enemies stand in your way. You'll use a variety of weapons, special abilities, and godly powers to attempt your escape, but in between runs, you'll also get to know the various Greek deities and engage in an evolving narrative. The PS5 version of the game will run at 4K and 60 frames-per-second, while on PS4, it's the same frame rate at 1080p.
By the way, publisher Private Division is bringing Hades to retail on PS5 and PS4 on the same date, if you prefer physical copies. One final thing to note: if you buy the game on PS4 --- physically or digitally — you'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
Are you excited to play Hades on PlayStation? Go to Hell (not really) in the comments section below.

Kind of have to get this. Heard so many good things. Drops just before my birthday too
100% getting this
Best reveal today for me, fantastic game.
Will see on price, Kena is coming around that time I think.
I have this game on switch and it's absolutely fantastic. If you are a fan of Supergiant Games then this is a must play.
Best news of the day
Finally, was patiently waiting for a PSN release and my patience has paid off. Excited to give this a try.
For anyone who also owns an Xbox, it’s included with Game Pass. Great that both PS and Xbox can play it now, absolutely one of the best games in recent years!
Supergiant Games have solidified as my favorite dev team in the business. Going to double dip for sure!
This is the only announcement I have been waiting for! Yes!
N.i.c.e word up son
@AdamNovice hoping it’s the same as the switch version, which I believe was $25
It wasn't already?
Looking forward to playing this on GamePass!!!
This sounds great, I’ll definitely be giving it a go.
I have to admit, I’m on the fence with this one. While I enjoyed Bastion, Transistor left me cold and I decided to skip Pyre as a result of that.
Maybe the PS5 reviews will convince me to give it a try when it launches.
Dont know an awful lot about this but i've heard only positive things so i may be tempted..
Hell yes. It's one of my favorite games ever. Think I'll get the disc version
Unless there is some fancy haptics it's just gampass for me. That conference was mad. 27/30 on gamepass vs 70 quid a game (aaa) on ps5. Starting to feel like i ***** up buying my ps5 tbh.
@Gooseuk It does have haptic feedback, there is a blog post about it. I have this on Switch, LOVE it. Will be buying this on PS5 just so I can have the plat in my collection!!
This game was fun, but when I played it on pc I was surprised how many goty nods it was getting. It’s fun, but it for damn sure isn’t GOTY material
The PS5 version is £19.99 on the UK store to preorder, that's insane value for money considering the quality and replayability on offer.
Anyone on the fence - get this. You won't regret it. Phenomenal game.
Heading for the Platinum on this. Hopefully the DualSense implementation is good. Second time buying this game(bought it on Switch) but like I said I need that Platinum. All my Supergiant games have been on Playstation till now and have the Platinum for all of them.
I got this at Switch but I never played too much. Game is awesome though.
But I will just play it on Gamepass, sorry Sony
Tempting to buy but not at full price, will wait for 50% off sale.
Finally! Super excited for this. August can't come soon enough!
@Eadgar I succumbed to getting the next best thing on ps4, in the form of dead cells (curse of the gods?) And while I've been enjoying it, it ain't quite Hades!
@J2theEzzo I succumbed to Curse of the Dead Gods recently. Wish I hadn't tbh, because despite the visual copying, it sure as heck ain't Hades either!
@Porkman85 it's true. I enjoyed the use of the parry mechanic and the way you could tweak your approach around that, but I felt it was missing a lot of the charm. Not a bad game, just not quite Hades, haha
@KidBoruto @Intr1n5ic @AdamNovice
It's $29 USD for the physical PS5 copy; it a steal at that price. This is a day one buy for me, for certain.
@thedevilsjester I suck at games like this, so waiting for a $15 sale (half off)
@KidBoruto
While I don't understand that logic; understand that everyone sucks at games like this, that's the point. Rogue-lites are built around the concept that you will die, over, and over, and over again. You won't be very good until you eventually build up not only your skill, but (in the case of a Rogue-lite) your character by slowly keeping some amount of progression.
